A small hand extends offering you their heart. Can sit on a shelf or hang on the wall with a small loop. Heart and hand are attached in one piece. Clay Endearments are small sculptures for the altar or wall that speak to the heart in some way. This work is hand sculpted and bisque fired, then sent through the intense process of raku where it is pulled blazing hot from an 1800 degree kiln, then smothered in combustibles. Thermal shock creates cracks which are filled with carbon from the combustibles Like our hearts these pieces survive more or less intact, but with more depth and character from weathering the distress. Dimensions 2.5" x 4" x1.5"

Bowl “Expand Express”

Black’N’Blue Ware functional ceramics are hand-crafted and individually hand-painted. Each design is improvised in the moment, painted and carved freehand from a database of design motifs in my brain and inscribed with a message that marks the moment. My work is fluid and rough hewn by nature, the quirks and imperfections are inherent to the work. Traces of the making process are intentionally left creating an intimacy between maker and user. I strive to make cups and bowls that are comfortable in the hand and hope for them to become “favorites” for daily use. Prices reflects the hours that go into decorating each piece, the cost of materials and power to run the kilns. Each piece is fired twice. Pieces with gold luster are fired three times. While pieces are dishwasher safe, hand washing is recommended. Microwave safe except for pieces with gold luster.
