Description

Black’N’Blue Ware functional ceramics are hand-crafted and individually hand-painted. Each design is improvised in the moment, painted and carved freehand from a database of design motifs in my brain and inscribed with a message that marks the moment. My work is fluid and rough hewn by nature, the quirks and imperfections are inherent to the work. Traces of the making process are intentionally left creating an intimacy between maker and user. I strive to make cups and bowls that are comfortable in the hand and hope for them to become “favorites” for daily use. Prices reflects the hours that go into decorating each piece, the cost of materials and power to run the kilns. Each piece is fired twice. Pieces with gold luster are fired three times. While pieces are dishwasher safe, hand washing is recommended. Microwave safe except for pieces with gold luster.
